Your Lady Royals took 2nd in the HCC today! The goal was to take the Thursday dual meet and the Saturday conference meet as an example of swimming prelim/final in a similar fashion at the IHSAA Championships – what a great job these young ladies did with that. They were clearly better today than Thursday and this is the beginning of the build to the championships at the end of the season….and maybe more importantly, it was just really fun! This is a fantastic group of young and driven student-athletes – we could not have been prouder of them over the last 3 days!
The HCC is a deep conference and championship titles are very tough to come by…hats off to Abby Harter, Molly Robinson, Hannah Pugh, and Bri Saple for winning the 1st event of the meet – the 200 Medley Relay! Hannah Pugh followed that with a win in the 200 IM – she led from start to finish and fired up her team just like she has all season. Sarah Ballard won the diving with “icewater in her veins” as she had some amazing dives in the back half of her list – she is a very tough and gritty competitor!
Other podium finishes for the Royals were:
RUNNER-UP…Molly Pedersen (100 & 200 Free), Abby Harter (100 Back), 200 Free Relay (Hannah Pugh, Molly Pedersen, Ellie Pedersen, Bri Saple), and the 400 Free Relay (Bri Saple, Ellie Pedersen, Abby Harter, Molly Pedersen).
3rd-8th…Ellie Pedersen (8th-200 Free), Abby Harter (4th-200 IM), Bri Saple (3rd-50 Free), Halli Siwik (3rd-Diving), Ashley Sinicropi (6th-Diving), Hannah Pugh (3rd-100 Fly), Ellie Pedersen (7th-100 Free), Olivia Harter (5th-100 Back), Molly Robinson (3rd-100 Breast), and Kennedy Fisher (5th-100 Breast).
It was a great day to be a Royal – make no mistake, this team wanted to win this meet, but the effort was on point and lessons have been learned that will help this team get to where they need to be. We are watching them grow and evolve – it is impressive and they are on track for a great finish to the season!
