HSE Boys’ Junior Varsity Tennis squeezed past North Central’s team on Tuesday night with a final score of 8-7. Victory hung in the balance until the very end — with a tiebreak at No. 8 Doubles securing the win for HSE. David Hosei and Vincent Ostrowski pushed HSE over the top, beating North Central’s duo of Jake Barker and Quinn Brooks 8-7 (7-3). Another tiebreak at No. 2 Doubles lifted HSE in this matchup, with Shlok Kulkarni and Rodrigo Davila beating North Central’s Charlie Kauffman and Garrett Mahaffey 8-7 (7-5). Other wins for HSE came from Evan Wang and Bode Newell in JV Singles play, and doubles’ victories at No. 3 (Nolan Houseman / Garrett Brown), No. 5 (Ajay Singh / Ryan Vandenbark), No. 7 (Charlie Orris / Christian Escasa) and No. 11 (Teddy Houseman / Sean Thierion De Monclin). Tuesday’s win puts HSE’s JV Record at 4-2 overall and at 4-1 in the HCC. HSE faces Brownsburg at home on Wednesday night.
