Hamilton Southeastern Royals Varsity defeated Mishawaka 4-2 on Saturday to earn a trip to the State Finals. HSE fired up the offense in the first inning. Anthony Eggers drove in two when he homered. The Royals added another run in sixth when Jake Huston reached on an error to score Jordan Millikan. Cole Dewael led the offense with two hits in three at bats. He doubled in the seventh to score Jake Stout who was on base due to a lead off base hit.
Michael Dillon was the winning pitcher. He went six innings, allowing zero runs on three hits and striking out 11. Tyler Schweitzer threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. He struck out two batters.
The Royals will travel to Victory Field to take on Columbus East in the State Championship game. Time and date is to be determined.
