The Lady Royals Track Team did what they had hoped for all season – win a state championship! For the first time in school history! On a hot day in Bloomington the team scored 62 points, set 3 school records, had 2 state champions, and 2 state runners up!!! Kennedy Drish repeated as state champion in the pole vault clearing 12′ 6″! The 4×400 relay team of Olivia Burgess, Mya Hammons, Annice McFarland, and Tierra Sydnor closed out the meet with an exciting state championship victory in a school record time of 3:51.10!! Camille Christopher was state runner up in the 200 meter dash after setting a school record at 24.09 in the trials. She was joined by Burgess, Sydnor, and Alyssa Barker on the state runner up 4×100 relay that finished in 47.25 seconds. Lulu Black set the other school record on the night as she placed 8th in the 3200 run in 10:47.67. Camille Christopher also placed 3rd in the 100 in 11.81. Mia Mackenzie earned 2 medals as she was 5th in the 100 hurdles in 14.45 and 7th in the 300 hurdles in 44.88. Tierra Sydnor earned her 3rd medal on the night in the long jump as she placed 5th with a leap of 18′ 2″. Jessica Bray rounds out the medal earning, point scoring athletes with her 6th place finish in the pole vault at 11′ 6″.
