Great job today by your Lady Royals – so much more impressive than the Thursday night Mudsock dual. We use this week to simulate the unique Thursday/Saturday setup for IHSAA Sectionals and while we always want to be good at both meets, this team showed tremendous grit and spirit coming back for an outstanding day after a disappointing Thursday meet!
Getting things off to a great start was our 200 Medley Relay (Rebecca Ang, Kennedy Fisher, Audrey Crawford, and Grace Newton) – they are HCC Champions and also new Brownsburg Aquatic Center Pool Record holders! Really just a rock solid relay and certainly got us off to a nice start.
Molly Pedersen, Amelia Vicory, and Ava Olson did a nice job in the 200 Free and our IM’ers – Audrey Crawford, Anna Stolle, and Katelyn Kertin outscored their performances from Thursday.
Things really got moving in the 50 Free – Lauren Bergman was strong, Ashley Saple swam out of the 2nd heat to 4th and Kennedy Fisher dominated the field to be crowned HCC Champion…way to go KFish! Diving is usually next but in this format but that took place yesterday and Coach Kristen has that report.
So impressed with our 100 Flyers – Ang stepped in for the injured Olivia Kiley with a very nice swim, then Kaleigh Stivers had one of her career best efforts to take 3rd and freshman Audrey Crawford won the event to be crowned HCC Champion for the 2nd time today!
Our 100 Free and 500 Free ladies kept us in the meet – Amelia Vicory, Lauren Bergman, Grace Newton, Sloane Gardner, Ava Olson, and Molly Pedersen all had swims where they left it all in the pool for those 2 events.
Our 200 Free Relay was simply outstanding but some slow exchanges cost us the victory and the team of Kennedy Fisher, Ava Olson, Ashley Saple, and Molly Pedersen settled for a really fast runner-up finish that was actually faster than the pool record.
In the 100 Back, Grace Newton, Rebecca Ang, and Makana Goss all made the podium – a great job by these ladies! Not to be outdone…all three 100 Breaststrokers made the podium as well – hats off to Kennedy Fisher, Katelyn Kertin, and Anna Stolle!
The final event of the day was the 400 Free Relay and our girls had a season best to finish 2nd – Audrey Crawford, Grace Newton, Molly Pedersen, and Anna Stolle showed that we have something to look forward to with this group at the end of the season with a very strong relay.
We are really proud of these ladies and they are making that final push to the IHSAA Championships in strong fashion.
