A night of closely contested racing turned into a big victory for the Royals on Tuesday night, who improved their dual meet record to 5-0 with a 116-70 victory over Westfield.
Individual winners for HSE were sophomore Abby Harter (200 IM), senior Emily Barnes (50 free), junior Halli Siwik (diving), sophomore Kayleigh Witt (100 free), sophomore Sydney Miller (500 free), and senior Victoria Victory (100 breast). The team of Harter, freshman Molly Pedersen, sophomore Ellie Pedersen, and senior Madison Kertin also won the 200 free relay.
Barnes’s winning time of 24.07 in the 50 is a new season best for the Royals, as was freshman Molly Pedersen’s 1:00.55 in the 100 backstroke. The time also moves Pedersen into 18th on the all-time list for HSE.
Other outstanding performances included freshman Sarah Juffer in the 200 free, junior Abby Yant in the 50 free, sophomore Ellie Pedersen in the 500 free, junior Hannah Pugh in the 100 back, and senior Victoria Vicory on the 200 free relay and in the 100 breast.
The 5-0 Royals will have their first major test of the season on Saturday when the swimmers travel to the Homestead Invitational (11 am start) and the divers head across town to Fishers for the Tiger Claw Diving Invitational (10:15 am).
