Girls Varsity Track · Girls Track Wins 4th Straight Sectional Title


The Lady Royals dominated the Sectional meet tonight winning by over 30 points over 2nd place Fishers. Tierra Sydnor started the night off with a school and sectional record in the long jump with a jump of 18′ 8.5″. She also ended the night with a sectional record along with Olivia Burgess, Mya Hammons, and Regan Wans in the 4×400 with a time of 3:54.72. The previous record was set by HSE 15 years ago! Maddie Mirro cruised to victory in the 800 as did Lulu Black in the 3200 run and Regan Wans in the 400 dash. Tierra Sydnor added another victory on the night in the 300 hurdles. The 4×800 also started the night off well, winning the event and just missing the meet record by about a half a second with 9:20.20 run by Ellie Pedersen, Annice McFarland, Lulu Black, and Maddie Mirro. 2nd and 3rd place finishers that automatically advance to the regionals which are next Tuesday at Lafayette Jeff and those were Alysaa Barker in the 100 and 200, Olivia Burgess in the 200, Halle Hill in the 1600, Jehnea Mirro in the long jump, Kennedy Drish in the pole vault, and the 4×100 relay team of Burgess, Sydnor, Hammons, and Barker. Ella Wilhelm also automatically advances since she cleared the state standard height in the pole vault. Others looking to advance on callbacks are Ellie Pedersen in the 800, Ellie Johnson in the 3200, and Madi Ehteredge in the high jump.
