The boys’ varsity track team competed yesterday at the Ben Davis Relays, which featured several unique events and a modified scoring system. Almost every event, including field events, was a relay. To figure a teams score, for example, add together the distance of two long jumpers. If each jumped 20 ft., the team total would be 40 ft. and would be compared to all other teams. The meet also featured unique distances, such as the Giant Medley Relay, 300-500-1000-600.
In the 4×1600 meter relay, HSE finished first place with a time of 18:24. Jacob Wiggers, Brady Jarosinski, Eric Swinson, and Eric Carothers all ran very well.
In the shot put, Evan Lantz, Brandon Gonzales, and Savon Smith all set personal records. The trio, along with Joel TseTse also won the “Big Dog Relay” which was a 4×100 meter relay in which only full-time throwers could participate.
Finally, Noah Malone had an outstanding day, setting a new meet record in the 100 M Dash of 10.79. Noah was also awarded the Co-Most Outstanding Athlete of the Meet award.
