The Royals continued their undefeated start to the 2017-18 season Tuesday night, beating conference rival Westfield 122-64. They mixed up their lineup once again to create opportunities for athletes in new events.
Individual event winners included junior Blake Ratliff in the 200 free, sophomore Connor Harrison in the 200 IM and 100 fly, junior Nathan Barr in diving, sophomore Marcus Eden in the 500 free, and senior Andrew Ratliff in the 100 back. Relay winners were the 200 medley of sophomore Ethan Forbes, sophomore Andrew Truxall, Harrison, and freshman Thomas Reising; and the 400 free relay of Blake Ratliff, Eden, sophomore Evan Sellers, and sophomore DJ Rogers.
Blake Ratliff’s time in the 200 free (1:47.24) is a new season best time for HSE, and moves him into 18th place in the event in team history. Sophomore Andrew Truxall also recorded the team’s fastest 100 breaststroke time this season.
Other outstanding swims came from senior Ethan Christopher in the 200 IM; juniors Nick Bostock and Matteo Fontanin and sophomore Emilio Rios-Rojas in the 50 free; Blake Ratliff in the 100 free; and sophomore Evan Sellers in the 100 back.
The 5-0 Royals will have their first major test of the season on Saturday when the swimmers travel to the Homestead Invitational (11 am start) and the divers head across town to Fishers for the Tiger Claw Diving Invitational (10:15 am).
