Day two of the annual Southern Indiana Getaway began with a wakeup swim and tour of IU’s campus in Bloomington, featured a visit to nearby arts village Nashville, and concluded with a great team victory over host Bloomington South.
The Royals won 11 of 12 events en route to their 131-52 victory. Challenged to improve their level of enthusiasm and support of their teammates, the vibe on deck was very positive as HSE rolled to victory.
Keegan Streett won the 200 free, Blake Ratliff won the 200 IM, DJ Rogers was a double winner in the 50 and 100 freestyles, AJ Ricafort won diving, Connor Harrison won the 100 fly, Evan Sellers won the 500 free, and Andrew Truxall won the 100 breast. Relay winners for Southeastern were Ratliff, Truxall, Harrison, and Andrew Christopher (medley); Marcus Eden, Christopher, Streett, and Ratliff (200 free); and Streett, Sellers, Ratliff, and Rogers (400 free).
Nick Bostock stood out for great swims in the sprint events and relays, but also for his great attitude and active leadership on deck and throughout the trip. He is an athlete who takes ownership of his own successes and failures and has a great passion and high level of care for his teammates.
Matteo Fontanin has also been a very positive force throughout the trip, making the most of his opportunities at meets and serving as a very important part of the backbone of the team culture. He brings passion that invigorates his teammates and does a great job holding his teammates accountable.
The Royals will split the squad to conclude the trip, with one group competing at a college events invite tomorrow at Bloomington South and another training at Bedford North Lawrence before heading home for the weekend.
