It was a great night for the HSE swimming and diving team – what a way to honor this year’s senior class. The Royals beat North Central 118 to 67 and showed tremendous signs of improvement in areas we’ve been focusing on.
The Royals concluded the evening honoring the team’s twelve seniors: Courtney Broyles, Maggie Guindon, Sophia Kegley, Callie Legere, Anna MacLafferty, Laura MacLafferty, Katie Mueller, Hannah Pugh, Caitlyn Russell, Ashley Sinicropi, Halli Siwik, and Olivia Vicory.
The Royals won the 200 medley and 400 free relays, Abby Harter was victorious in the 200 free and 100 fly, Molly Pedersen won the 50 free and 100 back, Sarah Ballard won diving, and Olivia Harter led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 200 IM alongside Ellie Pedersen and Molly Robinson.
Two of the night’s best swims came in the same event – Katherine Kesler continued an outstanding season with a huge drop in a very strong 500 freestyle, which was followed by a great effort by Sloane Gardner in the next heat.
Ashley Baker swam a strong 100 breast, Olivia Harter was great in winning the 200 IM, and Rebecca Ang had a great 50 free.
The Royals race again Tuesday at Zionsville to close out the regular season. Championships begin the following week with the HCC Reserves meet January 26 at Brownsburg.
