Hamilton Southeastern High School
Hamilton Southeastern Royals grabbed an early lead on its way to a 7-2 victory over Avon on Monday. The Royals scored on a single by Owen Callaghan, a single by Jacob Daftari, and a home run by Carter Lohman in the first inning.
Sam Bachman earned the win. He went five innings, giving up two runs, four hits, striking out seven, and walking one. Three relievers, Andrew Moreland and Rutger Poiry helped close out the victory in the sixth inning. Poiry got the Royals out of a tough situation by striking out the tying run at the plate with bases loaded. Dalton Hutchinson threw the final inning and recorded two strikeouts.
HSE had 12 hits in the game. Carter Lohman homered in the first inning and Brock Burns homered in the sixth inning. Dalton Hutchinson, Trenton Schneider, Jack Lang, and Jacob Daftari each collected multiple hits.
HSE goes on the road this weekend to play in Super Prep Series in Louisville. The next home game is Monday against Carmel at 5:30 pm.
